Help on laptop to tv

Hi guys just wondering how do I turn the screen off on my laptop when I have it plugged into the tv

you can use the "window key" + "p" to launch the menu that gives options to choose how you want to split the monitors. you can then choose Projector only. then your laptop screen should turn off.

Or your can go to control panel and find connect projector and it has all the options there.

What type of cord would I use to connect my laptop to my TV? And what TV option? *TV is a Insignia 32" HD TV 720p*
*Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5303*

If the TV has a VGA input, you could use a VGA cable. If the Laptop has an HDMI out, you could use HDMI.

It looks like the Dell Studio 1558 does have HDMI and VGA outputs. You'll definitely want to choose HDMI if it's available.

Thanks but I never noticed the VGA port before lol just the hdmi

Just had a second look and yes it does have a VGA port lol how could I have not have seen it before
