Default Hard drive compatibility

OK i have a old dell that runs xp with an 80gb hard drive in it. I just bought a new computer with vista with a 500gb hard drive. i am wondering if i can take th 80gb and put it in the vista computer and would there be any compatibility issues like with programs or anything. thanks allot

There shouldn't be any problems with you adding another hdd to your computer. Do you know if the hdd from the older computer is an IDE or SATA drive becuase that can make a difference too.

I am not sure how the boot loader is going to work, though. If it is going to read that xp is on the other drive, and add it to the boot loader.

Cheers!

So you want to keep everything that was already on the 80GB hard drive? It probably wouldn't work. You'd have to reformat it and reinstall everything for the new computer.
