Hanging on start up?? =(

Hey lads,

Newbie to this place hope ye can help...

My Acer aspire is running Windows 7, and yesterday evening when i went to start up it just hung at the logo with the words windows is starting or similar...

Ive done a startup repair, a system restore and check has there been memory damage (there is none)...

Nothing has worked as i still am getting the same screen this morning only ...

Please help i really need the stuff on it for work and study

Can you boot into safe mode? I assume that you can as you were able to do a sys restore.

What do you mean by startup repair? Booted from Win7 disk and did the repair option?

Edit: Can you go into safe mode and run CCleaner? This most likely won't help much but if something is awry in your registry it should set it straight.

Was there anything significant that you did last night that may be to blame? Updates...Drivers... etc?

When i restart the laptop it has two options:

Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally...

I have got into safe mode alright and tried a few things like system restore...

Pop in the Win7 CD and then boot from it, do a repair option and see if that yields anything tangible.
