Half of my desktop icon's are gone

Hi,
I have Windows Vista and 4 days ago a new update of Silverlight,
There was an issue to install it and i removed it not correctly, i delted the File in C and deleted registry. Now this is back installed but since then half of my icons are white or have some ugly default screen.

Someone who knows what could be wrong / can help me?

Not sure but do a system restore to the day before you installed it and all should be well.

Well but problem is can't find any restore dtaes from be4 since it only makes one when new update. I use Windows vista Home Basic
