GGGRRRRRR IE9 back button gets locked out

I was looking for a sign to tease some one here with so I was cruising some funny warning sign sites. Some, but not all of them when I clicked the browser back button it didn't work. No matter how manny times I clicked on it it just stayed on the same page.

What browser trick are they using to lock out the browser back button?

No refresh. Just turned clear like it wasn't there.

I do not like the sound of that at all, Why would you need to take away the back button from a browser anyway..

Keep someone from leaving your site and going back to where they were, like I was. I followed a link from Google to a funny warning sign site and could not back button back to Google.
