Weird. When I had Suse, it would not open anything with Wine. It would run, but not install. I tried no matter what ways, but it would not. (Linux, IMO is an OS with no head or tail.)

You probably didn't have WINE configured. Run

winecfg
Then, there is some configuration to be done with individual programs. To get many programs to run, you need to install IE.(get it here) using something like the sidnet wine cofiguration utility (see link). Yeah, it can get complicated.
