Default fornatting drive c:

Hello

I am trying to format my C: drive which has xp professional running on it. When I use my boot disc and arrive at the dos prompt I type in format c: /s which is what your supposed to do.

Dos for some reason does not recognise this and says bad command.

I have two drives C: and D: and I need to wipe my c: drive.

any ideas

So does it give you the message 'format is not recognized as an interneral or external command, operable program or batch file'.?

try to locate where the format.com resides. It might be on the boot disk you inserted or to its subfolders.
