Default Duplicate Name on Network

I am receiving a message from Microsoft Win XP when I start up that says, "Duplicate Name on Network". Any ideas what this means? Sid Kraft

Default Re: Duplicate Name on Network

It means there are two PC's on whatever network you are connected to with the same computer name.

To see the computer name, right Click on "My Computer", go to Properties. Now go to the "Computer name" tab. Look at the "Full Computer Name". Somewhere on your network is another machine with that same name...One of them needs to be changed.
