Default CPU usage 100% and a Beeping noise to acompany it...

Okay my computer has recently developed a problem...

When i'm playing thegame Starcraft-Broodwar for about 10 minutes it decides to get angry with me and start beeping. and it says my cpu usage is 100 percent.

i minimize the game and the beeping stops.

then i open it up again and play for about 30 more seconds and it beeps again.

i recently added some ram (but i tried taking that out and it didn't change anything) and a harddrive (that shouldn't be affecting it since the game's not even on that drive)

i dont know what to do. i just formatted and the problem persists.

any idea ((

i've had this computer for a few years and SC is not a big game.

(as for other games like WC3 or Counter-Strike it usually runs fine. but every once in a while i get the beeping but after a restart those usually work)

Yea that happens to me but a lot meaner. IT runs the fans really loud and the CD drives starts to sound like its getting cut. I dont know what it is.

Sounds like it is overheating. Use canned air and blow out the dust.

Should I use a damp rag or would it damage the computer?

How long is a few years of having that computer.

Also have you been playing games all those times or leaving the computer on day and night??

Reason why is that after 3-5 years the compound between your processor and the heatsink dries up and cannot transfer heat. You might have to re-apply the thermal compound. If you play lots of computer games all that heat generated from the processor might have dried up the compound by now.

Also off the subject is your computer case middle sized or a big case? Does your graphics card(s) have plenty off room for their fans to blow out the heat from their processors?? You want as much open air in your case and for your case fans.

Hope this helps...

okay so i finally solved my problem!@!!@!@!@!@

the problem was my heatsync was prettymuch covered in dust...SO i just:

-took the fan off.
-vaccumed the dust off.
-used a cotten swab to swab some remaining dust off.
-vaccumed it again...off.

w00t

thank you
