This is obviously a hardware issue, so I am under the assumption that it is no relation to Windows. First did you have a blackout or surge in your area during the night. And second did you possibly hit the computer accidentally? Also you say the computer loads, but you cannot boot into anything. But you reach a black screen with text which I am assuming is your POST. If you can reach this point then enter the BIOS, and find out what type and version you are running but do not modify anything yet and report back to us. You also said you cannot boot into the XP CD safe mode. Does that mean that your CD is being read but you just cannot load anything from it? If it is then I suggest getting a bootable version of Linux such as Knoppix and trying to boot from the CD and see if that works because if it does than that means the issue is with your HD not the actual CPU.
