Computer shows same screen at startup

recovery console replaces single files. repair option re installs xp but keeps all your docs and stuff. you can only use an xp key on one pc (some claimed for it to work on 2 pcs). it doesnt matter what xp cd you use, as long as you have a working key

SO in my situation, what do you suggest I do?

Perform chkdsk or just do a repair installation??

this usually happens when you have changed the settings of your computer, usually the driver settings..for example isntalling a driver for a hard drive that isnt compatible with it...the easiest way to fix this is selecting the option "Last Know Good Configuration ( your most recent settings that worked)" it acts as a system restore.
