Computer freeze while downloading and screen turn off

Hi there I'm new to the forums so if I've posted incorrectly I apologize in advance.

In any case, I've been having some issues with my computer sometimes freezing and I think it only happens when my computer has two things happening:

- It's downloading something
- The screen turns off as part of the power plan

Sometimes, I'll have my computer download something when I'm asleep, but when I wake up the computer's just frozen which really kills it. Then when I open whatever downloader I'm using to check the progress, it always turns out to have downloaded barely anything.


I can't really figure out the problem since it freezes when the screen is off so I can't even see what's happened. Can anyone help me?

Ok, it appears I made some assumptions when I ran into this problem. The issue is that the computer is freezing when left idle. Can anyone help me out?
