Default Choppy videos/games

Alright, it's starting to get annoying. I play flash videos on youtube or wherever and they get choppy. The video will stop and audio continues then video will come back. Sometimes video and sound will stop and then come back. Happens to me on my games too. Playing Mass Effect 2, about an hr in it will do the same (gameplay doesn't stop but audio and video just stop then they catch up about 3 seconds later). It's not my vid card, I had a visiontek hd 5770 and now an xfx hd 5770, with or without overclocking...all the same. Ideas?

Hard drive usage when this happens?

What HDD do you have?

Wouldn't explain flash issues. I believe it's a westinghouse. Going in and checking would mean closing the computer. too lazy and i don't think it's the key issue. Was thinking power to GPU but went and changed the PSU unit (same model) no change. RAM issue maybe?

EDIT HDD usage is minimal. It isn't even a year old, so it shouldn't be the problem.

Run Memtest86 to test your RAMz.

I would also try reinstalling/updating graphics drivers.
