It is possible, although depending on the netbook's hardware you may find that certain versions of Windows won't run too smoothly on it (Vista, mainly). You will need a Windows CD, a valid licence key and an external CD or DVD drive.

Have you installed an operating system before? And why not buy a netbook with Windows pre-installed? Do you already have a Windows licence to put on one?

Well, it's simple if you have a Windows installation CD. Basically all you have to do is insert said CD into a CD drive, flip the switch, select to boot from CD, and let the fun begin. Keep in mind all information on the drive will be lost, since it will be formatted into either a FAT32 or NTFS file system for Windows to work properly.

You may want to check the Manufacturer of the Netbook for the hardware drivers. Many of the notebook computers that we are getting at work have Vista installed on them so we are downgrading them to XP pro. If they don't come with a downgrade disk, we have to purchase a license to install XP and get the hardware drivers for the wifi, the bluetooth, usually some of the motherboard stuff, etc. from the manufacturer of the notebook. So, even though the netbook may not have many of these features, you still may want to check for hardware drivers before taking the plunge.
