burning cd

i wasn't sure whether to put this under software or hardware. i have burned cds before with my computer and using windows media player 11. i tried burning another cd and it wouldn't work. i was using windows media player 11 and it kept saying use another disc. could be scratched, etc. i used a brand new disc and it still didn't work. i also tried to use the wizard that comes with xp but nothing happened when i did this. i don't understand what's wrong. i put an audio cd in and it plays cds so it's not the cd player is it? please help. thank you.

I might be a bad batch of CD-r, your drive might be due for a cleaning, or you have a brand that isn't compatible with your burner.

i used the same cds as last time. should i get one of those cds that clean dvd players? what if that doesn't work? thanks.

That's what I would try. Otherwise your burner may just have gone bad.
