Default Best video format to rip DVD's?

Ok,So im going to rip my DVD Collection to my External hardrive (Using DVD shrink,then VOB Merge,And then SUPER).What's the best format for picture quality and size (Prefrebly 1 Movie = 1gb?),and what resolutions and bit rate should i use?

I like DivX, but im not a hardcore ripper or anything - I couldnt advise you on the res or bitrate.

DivX will get you decent quality, and a movie will be about 700MB. It's definitely not HD quality or anything, but it still looks nice.

I like using AVI. or the WMV format, the MP4 format is good, but also DivX it's really your choice but I would go with AVI.
