Has anyone tried using the proprietary ATI Catalyst drivers under Linux? I went ahead and installed it on Fedora 12 64-bit. The open source one that comes with Fedora 12 didn't work out well because all the text on the screen was corrupted.

So after installing the ATI drivers, I rebooted and received a welcome by the blinking cursor of DOOM.

Dammit, I'm probably going to have to config some files.

It doesn't worked for me on the fedora 11. so i felt myself pretty disappointed. But i use vmware for the linux so doesn't bothered me more.

I got them working on Gentoo a few years back, but this was when they were pretty buggy. X and 3D worked, XGL and 2D worked, XGL and 3D however was a complete no go.

From reading around they've probably improved a heck of a lot since then, so I would've thought the fedora problem is down to a dodgy setting in xorg.conf (or some other config file.) Exactly what it was though I couldn't say.
