Default Antivirus

Could anyone recommend a good free antivirus? I've heard good things about AVG and Avast as well as some others, though I don't know what to choose.
Tell me some good recommendations.

Note: I currently have Microsoft Security Essentials.

They are both good AV's to use and better than MSE. So both of them are good.

Those 2 are great.
I have used avast for 6 years now. I have to admit that i am disappointed in the new UI.
but that's properly just me.

I used to run AVG but I've switched to Avast. The only annoying thing is that popups keep appearing telling me to purchase the paid edition as it's on special and the offer ends soon.

Avg , when you install decline everything apart from the terms, and use the other install option, then it has 4 boxes ticked maybe 5 untick all of them, not a lot of people do this but a lot of crap comes with all antivirus programs.
