The closer you zoom in the more detail you get. Maybe I'll have to bench it at those settings again but it seems to me I couldn't average that on my setup cranked.

yeah the more detail you get and the less there is on the screen. Usually in rts games the closer the camera is the better the fps. If it's as close as possible the area you are seeing is going to be probably 10-20x smaller.

As for the game, it's alright. Online was fun at the beginning but it got quite boring after a while since it's pretty much doing the same thing over and over again. And it suffers from the same problem that pretty much any game nowadays suffers.. idiots. I'm telling you, too many people have access to the internet!
