Yeah of course linux takes some time to get used to. You're at the point where a lot of people just decide to give up on it and scrap it. I really like using linux although, lol i am currently using windows XP. It's just that nearly all programs and games are written for windows and a lot aren't compatible with linux. That is only thing from keeping me from making a complete switch over to linux. What distro are you using btw?

90% of all programs run on windows... if you want to go past a single screen, massive programming is required... and emmense programming to get any game to work on linux... plus, there are display compatability issues, along with internet, etc. For convience, microsoft pwns, but, then, linux is way more customizable, etc.

As good as linux really is... it's just not suitable for most people. I happen to play games.. and well.. playing games is completely impractical on linux. using windows is less time consuming and headache inducing than linux is. Just a fact, a fact that I hope changes someday.

The pros on Windows:
Easy to use
Easy to install stuff
Very flexible
Good for Gaming

The pros on Linux:
Virus Free
High security
Easy to use at some places
One installer for all setup Files

The cons on Windows:
Easy to infect
Bugs here and there
Sometimes unstable
Problems seems endless

The cons on Linux:
If you don't know how to install stuff, then it's a problem (Like me!)
Really hard to get a specific program with all the weird names (Kdraw)
Konsole seems like OMG
Not very friendly at some places
Some has troubles with Online radios (Like Mandrake)
May overheat PC (Really rare case)

Windows is easy to use and all that. The recommendation of it is: 50%
Linux is a really hard to install programs OS. The recommendation of it is: 50%

Alternatives:
OS/2 Warp: Windows based, But, there is what we call, incompability in hardware of these days. (Supports HPFS)

MAC OS: Where Windows was based, and stolen. This is bugless, but PCs are a pain afterwards. Might as well buy a MAC

ReactOS: A Windows Kernel based OS, but since it's Beta still, NTFS won't format these big guys we have. Plays games!
