sounds good, my macbook suprised me tbh, sits comfortably at about 40 celcius according to iStat, then again there are alot of eternal fans around to keep the temp down on my room.

That's a shame. I like wide viewing. But still it's different.

Ever since i've used a laptop i've grabbed the lid and started to close it just before it starts to obscure the bottom half of the laptop and see where the backlight falls on the keyboard area. Then I thought remove the keys and cover the area with a 3D screen so that you can have the keys in 3D with the reflection mirroring what's on the screen. I think the 3D screen would be better so you can have stuff in the forground/background and still make out the image mirrored from the main screen.

Use your laptop with it barely open for those 'Secret Surfing Sessions'....

Is there a better trockpad than the Wacom bamboo touch?

Or would a trackball be better? I've never used one on a laptop.

What do you mean by "standard connections"? Laptop hard drives use the standard connections so you could mount them inside a case if you wanted...

Already been done. Dell latitude E6800, they have them at work.

Sorry, should've been clearer. I'm going to put an external SATA connection.
