Default TiVo. Is it worth it?

It's just been introduced here in Australia. I believe I have read it's gonna cost us $699. I'm pretty curious if anyone here has got it and if they think it's value for money considering what pay TV costs. What has it got to offer compared to pay TV?

Well, If it's anything like Sky+ Then yes! It's really handy... But, if you feel that you want to "make your own" then its proberbly cheaper

Thats was my impression as well. Most HD recorders will give you the series link aswell if you want to record a series so I can't see a difference

So TiVo doesn't actually give you any extra channels like pay TV? It's just another expensive DVD recorder?

Thanks for your opinions.
