I once had a conversation with Neil Armstrong in the cockpit on the way out to Japan. He told me they used an inertial navigation system in the machines similar to the ones we had in the airplane but they were 3 dimensional rather than 2 dimensional. I don't know if that is what they still use but I would bet it is a 4 ring laser gyro inertial system.
