ring of death

True its an issue of hardware failure as a result of overheating, and whilst it is hugely less likely with a modern console, it is still occasionally happening. Microsoft cover their xbox360 consoles with a no questions asked repair or replace warranty for 3 years from purchase and their service is great

Apparently, if sources are to be told, no. The failure rate isn't as high, but it still occurs.

Not really. They are both surprisingly similar with the same type of graphics core, speed wise.
The PS3 has the advantage of having more space on a disc though, and that cell processor is a lot more powerful on paper than the Xbox 360's tri core.

Surprisingly, most games that are on both systems, favour the Xbox 360 graphically, and its impossible to tell with games built for one only.
