I got a Wii too, I didnt really fall for the trend thing. I just wanted to get a Wii so I can play the Wii exclusive games. I don't regret getting it either.

xbox gets red ring because of the xbrackets they use
they put a huge amount of pressure on the chip and the bored and when the xbox heats up and cools down constantly the solder can become lose
best position for your xbox is laying down becouse it puts less pressure on the board...
now the way to fix it is you remove the xclamps from the board and use bolts with washers (got them cheap at home depo) and use those instead with some new thermal paste
allow the gpu to over heat on purpose and your set with a new working xbox

I've had it twice, and had to send the console off twice.

Stupid thing is, the first time it happened, when I recieved it about a week later, after a few days, it happened again.

It hasn't happened since though, as they must have fixed it properly this time (its definietly the same unit though). The first time, they mustn't have bothered.
