Whatever it was i haven't seen it since. Things seem to be back to normal. Strange how something can just come alive in win10. I went back to settings in Google Chrome and dumped all the search engines but for Google. So far nothing else has jumped up on the screen. Thanks again for the help, wd66

You may want to run a Malwarebytes Antimalware scan on your rig, Dan. Lots of little nasties like to reset your default search engine.

yep, did a scan amd came up with several Pup. and many malwares. 44 total.
