Seems that SG and I have more in common than just our sense of humor.
I had some fun looking at the list of Spanish words derived from Arabic words. Impressive how many words in Arabic are almost the same in Spanish. I always thought Spanish had nothing to do with Arabic.

Why do you say that?
Because as far as I know that's not true. That's why the concept of "language family" exists.
And even if it was, 8% of the words in a Spanish dictionary share a shocking similarity (in meaning as well) with words from the Arabic language, which is crazy given how different this two are.
