Lol it isn't a problem.
I do turntable>preamplifier>stereo>headphones.
Sounds pretty awesome actually with some good noise cancelling headphones.

Random car question: is turning your steering wheel all the way to the stops bad for the steering mechanism? Because I was told (by my mom, who is the MOST mechanically inclined person) that its bad, yet when I park I'm generally too worried about where my car is to pay attention to if I hit the stops or not, and sometimes I'll hold it there.

Not really. Your steering system is designed to travel from lock to lock without any chance of mechanical failure if everything is working properly.
