I'm in the Philippines.

I just got absolutely boned on a taxi ride, straight out the airport. - that's what happens when you don' think about how you will get somewhere until after and just go to the rank outside the airport.
2600 pesos, for a 5 mile ride, (there are 50 pesos to a dollar. 66 to a pound) - so that was a £37 journey, $53, ten bucks a mile...

Needless to say I'll book a proper taxi when I go back.

Yeah, gotta watch that stuff Root. Hopefully, you're traveling for work so your expenses will be reimbursable.

I don't use taxi's anymore when I travel, use Uber or Lyft. All my work travel is strictly in the US so I have no idea as to whether those services are available in the Philippines though.

I doubt it. Uber and Lyft are American.
