Radar Detectors

This topic is way out there since about half of the members on here don't even drive, lol. But if you do and are concerned with getting speeding tickets, what are some of the top brand radar detectors on the market today?

And since we're talking about laws all around, in Canada they are (or were, havn't checked in a while) legal if you use them in conjunction with any other radio equipment.

ummm... don't speed? if you are going 40 miles at 75 instead of 65, you only save 4 minutes. not that much. and besides, if you pass people really fast, the can be startled, and swerve, and crash.

Or even worse is what happened to me. First time driving new car at high speeds, and it has quite a bit of torque. Start passing on left, pedal to floor, car downshifts. Torque causes it to jump right at the other car :D Luckily, I just naturally corrected myself so it didn't go to far over.

I was hurrying once to catch a ferry, & saw the camera flash, on return from holiday, there was the fine on the mat, it stated that I did 33 in a 30 mph zone, £60 & 2 points on my licence, welcome home buddy!!

Wow holy crap. Here everyone does 65-70 in a 50, 95-100 in an 80. Thats the normal speeds. You don't get tickets at those speeds

yea as dj chris said, here in canada ,on the main highways, where speedlimits are 100km/h, everyone does like 120-130 and none of the cops care as long as everyone is going at the same speed.

Not entirely true. You can usually get away with 10km over. I was going 65km in a 50km and i got a ticket. Guess it depends on where you live and who the cop is etc.

Well you get away with that around here. Hell, I did 150 in a 100 zone and hit a police speed trap, and I didn't even get pulled over. That was cutting it close though.

on the subject of the thread in england road angels are really good.

but as for the speeding thing in england we have a 70Mph speed limit on the motorway,

but its kinda weird coz its 70Mph on the 3 lane motorway and yet the outside lane is for overtaking ?

how can u overtake a car doing 70 while your doin 70 ????

so they kinda expect you to be speeding but its a pain in the ass while driving through the new average speed cameras.

Holy crap you have got to be kidding me. 50km over  (31miles for you American folk). I guess they are more strict in Alberta then out east. You may want to be careful, one day you might get burnt.

Woohooo, I heard about the Escort awhile back but just couldn't remember it until you brought it up. Same with what Arrizx said about that Valentine 1 too. These are suppose to be the two best on the market.

Now I just have to pick which one to get....
