The media sucked for a very long time now, not just lately. Say for at least 20 years now. Social media and its goons made it even worse, let alone gossip. Hey look, that meme says SG wants all non SG people dead, let's share that so other suckers would believe it without even making sure of it and share it more!

The media has been the same thing since Joseph Goebbels (Nazi Germany) defined how to produce "good" (effective) propaganda. If you think you're not subject to the same distortion of the truth as the German people, then boy... you must support denying people their rights as a human to visit a part of the earth because you're afraid of something that statistically doesn't happen. But hey, put a news story about how the spurious "bad guys" want you dead and watch as the flock runs to the grinder labeled "safe haven."
