i really dont think its a computerforums problem to be honest, its prolly somethin they picked up programmed to pop up along with retrieving a website, which by the way is very common. ive never had problems, and i use IE.

My active scripting is off. The IE popup blocker is on high. I have ZA and nod32. I only get them here.
I don't have a program on my system that plays popups. Now it's something to do with the ads. And it only happens here.

when I use firefox the opoups go crazy for some reason, it's like they just bypass the popup blocker because the little bar will appear saying it blocked the popup but the opoup will be there anyway. it's like the firefox popup blocker does nothing. but that's at school. At home I don't get a whole lot, I use IE but I have Adsubtract and that blocks popups, banner ads and other advertising crap.

targeted for the US?.. I don't think location really matters all that much.

In either case, I live in the US, and I don't get any.

But on the flipside, I use FireFox, I hate IE with a passion and never use it unless absolutely forced to.

I think you guys need to switch to FireFox and get an extension called "Adblock Plus". Ever since I've downloaded that extension, I get no pop-ups, no banners, no nothing. It's all gone. Plus, if there's an image or somethign you don't like, you can just right click on it, and choose "Adblock Image" and poof, it goes away. It's really sweet.

Its probally some type of advertisement service that David has purchased and their choosing to put popups along with their other advertisements, and so popups are occuring.

I think a similiar problem happened when we were getting that little black popup box.. (for those of you who remember that recent event), and we were able to track it down to 'click4usa.com'. David fixed that.. so I'm sure he can fix these popups fairly easily as well.

I myself have not recieved any popups, but ever since I've begun to use Firefox with Adblock, I have not recieved a popup.

yes, I've started getting popups for 888 casino, connections websites, everything...

I understand that this site does have to be funded, but looking around, everyone hates popups,
Brookfiled started a post saying that he'd gotten virus warnings,
it wasn't that long ago that Seti did get some virusses come through (thankfully stopped by his AV software)...

is there any way that these ad agencies could be better screened? I know that some of the agencies used are relativly clean, I.e just text links, or pictures.

I get popups when I'm not using firefox, which is never. I do get the ones that roll around the screen inside websites and block your view though.
