Typically, for dual channel operation, you'll install the RAM in the same colored slots if using only two modules. Usually, they'll be in slots 1+3 or 2+4.

and how much does that boost the performance by?

Well, it reads my ram as 800, vs. the 400 that it would read if it was single channel.

Truthfully, about 2-4%. Not enough that you'll actually notice it in everyday use. It shows up nicely in performance benches though.

OK, I was wrong. But it doesn't really matter. I was just testing my mobo, that is why they are in single channel mode.

So i guess it doubles performance. That cooler is huge, how much did it cost. Those are pretty good temps for having it overclocked quite a bit.
