I'll consider getting a slim. I like the idea of being able to install linux, and using it as a folding@home machine.

Theres a reason why the PS3 have that many space. When you want to play a game, you have to install part of it onto the HDD first. Blu-Ray read/write speed is slower than an DVD, which is why it needs to be installed so there won't be a high loading time. Also, it's really easy to swap the HDD (I was told), if you wanted to get an bigger HDD.

Nothing beat my PS3 that's been upgraded to a 250GB drive ^_^

Any idea if the slim will still allow for hard drive swapping?

I'd sell my 60GB launch PS3 and buy a slim if it had full PS2 backward compatibility.
