Default Patch 4.0.1

I was starting up my WoW and waited nearly 4 hours for this update! (Still updating) Right now I am waiting for the launcher to finish updating, and already shows a Cataclysmic theme before you click "Play". Has anyone already been able to check out the actual changes in game?

i left my macbook on all day (9am until 6pm) while i was out and college and such, and still waiting for it to finish now at 11pm.

ive had a look in the 'available' state, and personally, i hate it.

can see myself quitting wow soon.

they ruined paladins, nerfed stamina, ruined most talent trees and screwed up raid lockout :/

but seriously, paladin tank aggro is now weak-as, stamina is overloaded onto all gear (saw some holy priests in icc gear with 30k in dala), 31-point talent trees and only 41 points (no more 15% str boost for palas /cry). Some nerfing to DKs, blood and frost presences have been interchanged. Blood is dedicated tank tree. alot more emphasis on Guild over friends list, now get in-game notifications when a guild member logs in or out (really annoying if your guild is big). Pretty much everything to do with Specialisation, Spells, resources etc. has been overhauled really, and ICC and RS lockouts have been screwed with. e.g. you can do a 10-man raid or first 4 bosses, then continue it with 25-players in the same week, from the point in which you left off in 10 man, and loot is apparently the same in both. some minor (but nothing huuge) nerfing to locks and hunters. Also, some 'Requires Level 81" spells are in game already, and a higher level of riding (310%) can be bought for 5k, ontop of the 5k for Artisan and the 1k for CWF.

basically class wise, Warlocks and Hunters get a little more OP, and Palas and DKs got nerfed into the cold hard ground.

POV Pala...

also, at this moment in time (about 60% of the final patch data downloaded) WoW takes up 28GB of hard drive space :/. And also, overlord, did you have crazy latencies on other PCs on your network while downloading? while main patch data downloaded (the 5.29GB stuff) it did about 10MB per half an hour, and the ping from other PCs on my network reached 5000ms.

I've finally been able to check it out. I'm not really sure why this was all made available in a single patch rather than the expansion. The waiting time for this patch was... almost absurd. 28GB for this game is also going overkill. The first thing I noticed were a major change in graphics, which I preferred. I can't really say much about high level content since I'm still a noob, though it seems as though the mighty Death Knights are no longer mighty? If this is the case, I perceive this to be a huuuge downfall. I know that warlocks and hunters start out with a little helper, which I'm sure makes low-level play more enjoyable. I also notice a re-occurring "camera shake" as part of this Cataclysm thing. I'm not sure if it is possible, but I would rather players have the option to turn it on or off, seeing as it can get kind of annoying. I've had a little trouble getting used to the new spell book.

paladins have been ruined more than death knights, DKs just got flipped over, a kind of swap in role of frost and blood.

and the low level pet thing is probably quite fun, but i can see raiding with this new patch is probably going to suck.

speaking of which, i missed 2 raids while this path was downloading, and somehow my WoW folder is 32GB now.

I stopped playing a few weeks ago and sold my account. The Hunter, Paladin and Death Knight were my favorite classes and I knew they would ruin all 3.

28GB, two days of downloading, a game that got totally ruined.

and now im being told when try to log in that my game is incomplete or something. My Paladin (pictured up there somewhere) is ruined as far as im concerned, and because i left my DK in ICC when i last logged him out, i cant even get on him to check it out.

subscription -> cancelled.

maybe its time i tried Starcraft
