Just a quick shot of the rework i did on my layout. Still trying to get it to where i want it. I need to spackle the walls before i paint the rockwork gray. I will show that later. also have all the wiring done. All of the turnouts ( switches), are wired and working. I always hate wiring... the dcc unit is up and running. I can run trains off the computer or tablet. Way cool!!

Thanks fellow, it is coming along nicely. A lot of additions and scenery to do before i start running trains yet. The track needs a good cleaning! Engines don't want to run real good on the dirty track. Always something to do when building a a layout. It will be worth it in the end. Next thing other than the rock cliffs will be cleaning the track and glueing the track onto the layout...again.... So, i will update as i can,Wd66

If you don't want to paint those hills in your layout, you could just tell everyone that they are snow covered! :)

No they are rock formations. Have most of it painted and have a coat of aging stain on it. That helps the cracks and little features to show. I am working on the back area where the big trestle is and working on track back there too. Slowly gluing down the track. That and taking Robert back and forth to different doctors is what the day has been. I have to resize the photos on this tablet to show anything. I don't have the program in this thing to do that, so i will post them later, wd66

It's simple Dan, use a program like Irfanview, bring up a pic and hit + to increase the size and hit the Windows key and prnt scrn key together to get a screen shot.

The screenshot will be found in pictures folder but if you're using Win 7 you'll have to use Paint to paste it and save it with a pic format.

Of course. Analog is always better than digital though digital is here to stay.

Heavy metal guitarists love them analog amps.
I do find it odd how objectively worse things are subjectively better...

Of course, I agree analogue amps (and effects) all the way, often sound better (to the type of music) because of their flaws... :)

i figured atleast in the Aftermath of a Zombie invasion all of our survivors are already educated and nerds like us who are on the list of survivors are what it takes to rebuild the grid and regain access to computers and the internet so back
I don't think that the geek will inherit the earth in the event of zombie apocalypse. The physical effort required for defeating zombie hordes is going to spoil it for at least some of us.

I was once told by an engineer the start up process for the national grid, this was a couple of years ago he had just left the job... i've forgotten most of what he said now, all I really recall was that it would be rather complicated, and needed to be done in a specific sequence. (Essentially a main control mode needed to be powered first to control the grid systems before anything could actually apply power to the grid... Anybody attempting to start the grid from total failure outside of the proper sequence would likely die trying. There were essentially too many switch control issues and problems with islanding to even contemplate... Also (whilst I have it on some authority now that they are upgrading, the main control systems were based on some ancient vax systems...

I suspect (without disrespect to my elders of course) the "vintage" engineer who could do this is even less likely to survive initial zombie outbreak...
(Let's say running away would not be his strong suit!)

Why are you collecting Vintage gear rather than newer SDR? (Obviously it's lots nicer etc...)
