I'm on a 5mbit cable connection and this is what I get

My personal best here I think was Oct 1 2007. I got like 7300 kb/s
Today downloads were going slow, so I tested it and got a 3100 kb/s and upload dropped a little as well. They seem to be rather inconsistent in this area (monopoly) and it completely goes out often.

I asked a neighbor of mine (he has FiOS too) and he experienced a massive slowdown as well. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the fire since it got fast again that same day. Verizon probably had to reboot their routers and switches too , just like on our end.
