Wrong. You get what you pay for. We have a crap, no-name DVD player that once it warms up, has a hell of a time reading DVDs and ends up skipping and stuttering.

He's actually right. There are some DVD players out there that either have weird brand names or don't have them at all and they'll work for a bit and all of a sudden it'll be annoyance after annoyance. It's always wise to pay the extra when it comes to electronics as you often do get exactly what you paid for.
