Need Some Car Audio Assistance

So I drive a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer with a pretty damn decent stock stereo.

But I listen to my tunes LOUD! And I am starting to lose quality and my max volume isn't nearly what it was new..

With that said, I have two main inquiries:

I am looking to get suggestions on a head unit anywhere in the $150-250 range. It needs to have the audio line in, so I can plug in my MP3's.

There after, down the road I am looking to throw down $400+ on a speaker system, a lower end sub with a decent set of component speakers( I don't have the sizes at the moment, but I will furnish upon request)

So at the moment, I am just looking for a head unit, do they all "fit"? Also I notice on my stock player, it does not have the little square 'key-holes' to remove the head unit.

So what's the trick?

Thanks in Advance!!

The standard male to male connection, for MP3's are called Axillary Input, correct?

@ zkilla, thanks for the fast response man!

That head unit looks pretty sweet, good name too. (was hoping for a Pioneer or Alpine)

Do you think I'll need a wire kit as well? Just for the head installation that is.

Thanks a ton, great find with that Mitsubishi forum!

On the sub:

I would need to purchase two of those? Then Build a box correct?

Thanks

well what kinda music do u listen too? if its like rap and hip hop then i would recomend two 12 inch's but if its like rock then 2 10 inch's will do the job. two would be better then 1 lol. i love bass but i dont know about you. can u get a picture of the wire harness that its using now?

From that guide you posted I should have no problem getting it apart, though I'm at work at the moment. I'll have a picture up tonight at some point, so check up on me :)

I don't listen to a lot of rap, some, only the quality stuff ;) But I LOVE bass..I listen to some DnB and IDM so Bass is important, definitely.

This is the 10" you're speaking of?

So I'd purchase two of those and build a box for them, correct?

Mind sending a link for the AMP your recommended?

So minus any wiring accessories and the box materials I am currently looking at: $620

I figured that wasn't bad, but then again I'll still need an AMP.

Now I'm a little confused as to what I'll need power to what, will the AMP power both the Subs as well as the Speakers? Or does the power to the Speakers operate off of the head?

Thanks again!!

**note any other suggestions for Subs? Trying to keep the price down a little bit, also pending the AMP price.**

If anyone knows whether or not this setup would have power running from the deck or the AMP to the front speakers please give me a shout..

Trying to pick up a deck and front speax tonight.

Thanks !

After further reading, I found I prefer:

for the head and

for the front speakers.

I'm going to hold off on my rear speakers at the moment, I'm satisfied being that those are further from my head :)

I need some help with the subs still, looking for some cheaper 10's and going to build my own box.

Need some help with the AMP as well..

And I'll have a picture up of my wiring connections, behind the head today.

Thanks Everyone

Ok, instead of picking on theirs a button on stereo that changes the wav form, such as Classic, rock, dance, country and so on. just push the one you listen to
LMFAO this is why they invented it
