The Free Land of The Necro Paradise is a very large, economically powerful nation, notable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 105 million are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Education, and Social Welfare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 54%. A small private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Almost half of the child population live rough on the streets, the state pays for care of easily preventable illnesses, the nation has opened its arms to an influx of refugees, and referenda can be called for any law at the request of at least one third of the voting population. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. The Necro Paradise's national animal is the Houngan, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Corpse.
