Default MSN messenger Now Playing tool

A handy little tool I just happened to trip over:

http://www.myplugins.info/msn-messenger-plugin.php

It allows you to show whats playing in MSN Messenger, with Winamp, Yahoo Music Engine, Foobar, etc, instead of the usual Windows Media Player.

Nice huh?

It just installs as a plugin which you can simply configure to your liking:

hmm, i tried it but no luck in getting it to work. I have a custom skin installed and it says it may or not work with some modern skins so I guess that must be it.

Well, after doing a search at Winamp.com, within the plugins section, there are quite a lot of home made plugins that do the same thing.

Might want to give a couple a try

I'm actually using one called MessengerAMP now:

i don't see why you want to advertise to all your friends what songs you are listening too. Besides...plug-ins use up more system memory....most are full of spyware...so not really worth install IMO.

I don't have any plugins installed and iTunes does it by default. Weird.

The ones I have don't have spyware. As long as you are careful, you won't get any either.

I use plugins for playing:

Megadrive/Genesis music, using a VGM/VGX plugin,
Snes music, using a SPC plugin.
N64 music using a MiniUSF plugin,
Nes music using a NSF plugin,
A plugin to allow to playback MOD, XM, etc module formats,
and the plugin to now show MSN playing info
