Does anyone know of a program that is like Microsoft money or Quicken that is FREE?
I know quicken has the free online one, but I want a desktop based one.

I use cashflow manager but it cost for a licence fee 130pound.

You can download the demo and use it for payments and receipts

Personally I use Excel to manage my money.

I have a spread sheet set up so I have things calculated week on week
with my weekly/monthly/yearly expenditures, monthly incomes.
with a running total down the bottom also including my credit cards and bank balance, how much I'm paying off of all the credit cards the interest that gets applied to them each month (worked out from the balance on them and the published rate).

then at the very bottom I have the debt cell that counts up all my debts.

the sheet forecasts into the future, (in fact five years into the future)
so I know things like how much I can spend in a month, and if I spend a certain amount now, (say on a credit card) how much that debt will affect me in the future say in a few months when my car insurance needs to be paid...

(spreadsheet could be made in open office)...
that's free, you have to put in a little work... but it looks good at the end.

I use Quicken. I probably haven't dove into 1/10000 of all the features, but it does what I want- providing a paper trail and log of all my money.
