If your too lazy to read the whole thing i'll sum it up for you. Microsoft has decided to adapt an open policy. Providing it's API's for high-volume products free of charge, and will detail patents it holds and applications that cover its protocols (to avoid nasty, Linux-like mixups, I assume), and will provide a "covenant not to sue open source developers for development or non-commercial distribution of implementations of these protocols."
