Is it legal to view hacking websites?

I mean, If my ISP went thru the logs of every site ive been to, and they came across a hacking website would I get in trouble?

The tools themselves are legal. No different then a gun being legal to purchase.

Now if you shoot someone you go to jail if you get caught. Same applies here. If you hack a site and you get caught you go to jail.

Only if your hired on by a company to test there security or hacking your own personal stuff you can use the tools. But if you use the tools to hack someone's computer/site etc without permission its against the law.

The site I linked you can only be described as something from fight club. Its just mischief and mayhem in all forms.

It's illegal for an ISP to record your web activity without a warrant (In the US and Canada) for starters.

Second off, it's not illegal to download "hacking" tools or visit "hacking" sites (In the US and Canada), but actually hacking *is (There are ways around the law).

I doubt anyone really cares about hackforums.net which seems to be a whole bunch of script kiddys (if that) running around like OMG i'm going to porn scan people and crack windows passwords! The dangerous sites that are known are watched however. That hackforums.net site is a joke tbh and it's hosted in Canada ffs, where US or Canadian authoritys could easily get to it if they actually did anything.

I thought they could log what you viewed?
Do they log what you download?

And I was just using that site as an example.

Your history is logged but unless your account is flagged for excessive use or suspected of illegal activities they can't just go in and see what your looking at.

Hacking is a very grey area.

it's not illegal to go to sites that teach you how to hack, but proposed new laws may make it illegal to operate such sites. as they'd be giving away information as to how to carry out attacks.

same with tools, at the moment it's technically legal to own them, but it's illegal to create or distribute them.

Quote:
The Computer Misuse Act has also been changed to make it an offence to make, adapt, supply or offer to supply any article which is "likely to be used to commit, or to assist in the commission of, [a hacking or unauthorised modification or DoS] offence". It is also an offence to supply an article "believing that it is likely" to be used to commit such an offence.

The meaning of "article" includes any program or data. The provisions would cover the supply of DoS or virus toolkits. Anyone convicted of breaking this section of the Act could be jailed for up to two years.
