iPhone 4.0 OS Preview Announced

So the iPad gets launched on the 3rd and now we get to see a preview of what OS 4.0 holds in store for us on the 8th! I'm really hoping they have ramped up the OS and have some really good features to add. Or perhaps maybe will get a look at what this summers iPhone will be able to do.

I really hope multitasking is in the list of updates so we can quit reading about it. It would also be nice to do more customization like the Android OS offers.

11:02AM "We are releasing it for end users for iPhone and iPod touch for users this summer. For the 3GS and iPod touch 3rd gen. And, for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2nd gen, they will run many things... but there are some things they won't run, like multitasking."

So no support on iPhone?

Oh FFFFFFUUUUUU

11:12AM Q: Will there be an ad approval process? A: (Jobs... super long pause) Um... well there's going to be some process... but these people are paying to run ads. So, I'm not sure it'll be anything other than a light touch.

Yes, the 2G is no longer being supported by Apple. The 3G will get the 4.0 update however will lack certain features like multitasking. It was pretty much inevitable and I expected the 3G/2G wouldn't get multitask support. Yes, you can run multitasking through a jailbreak but with the lack of ram it's more sluggish compared to the 3GS which I'm guessing was the reason to remove the feature from the 3G.
