If I buy any old Iphone of ebay/craigslist, can I unlock it?

I am looking at one on craigslist. The guy wants $120 if I wait until the 3g one comes out. If I buy it, will I be able to unlock it?

I believe you. Might end up getting a Tilt off craigslist instead. One forsale is $250, and the guy is willing to ship it. Saves me 3-4 hours of driving round trip.

from personal experience I can confirm any phone can be jailbroken I cnt believe how simple it is aswell plug phone in click 1 button and it will unlock and activate the phone within a min
