Is there any reason why you need a xeon over a core i7? It seems like it's just a ton of wasted money to me.

What will this be used for?

No, not really. It's the cheapest machine I'm willing to get through their business line.

Are you not willing to build? For $1000, you could build an i7-930 rig that would smoke that hp.

I don't have a discount with their consumer line and I'd rather not deal with HP consumer.

Like I said, just toying with the idea. Probably won't make a serious decision for another six months.

I think the right specification would work.

There's some massive capabilities in those machines. Cant you spec dual CPU models?
