I'm very interested in knowing how much writing is required for computer enginneering,
or those working in the computer field. I'm trying to be one myself!!

If writing is required..
2) What kind of things do you write? (Codes, Reports, Descriptions, Papers)
3) In your writing is there a specific goal, or purpose? What format do you follow?
4) How is your writing evaluated? Who reads and looks over it?
5) What do you gain personally from writing? (Do you get better at writing, do you enjoy it?)

1) Lots. And by lots I mean all day.
2) Depending on where you work could be all of the above
3) again depends. Code is to get things done, reports and stuff to inform or document a product.
4) Depends on where you work. Either peer reviewed or reviewed by a boss or another department. Anyone from other developers to customers can see what you do depending on what it is you're writing.
5) Knowledge of the process or product and improved typing skills.

I'm a software engineer. My company routinely employees computer engineers to do the same job since about 75% of the coursework in school is the same.

A big part of engineering is communication since most engineering projects are done by teams (the larger the project, the larger the team). A big part of that communication is often written in the form of specifications, reports, emails and general documentation.
