Memory doesnt really make a huge difference. Depends on the resolution you are playing off. If you need a 1gb 8800gts, you can get one I think.

i never said that it beats it , just for 1/3 of the price mine plays every game i throw at it like cod4 on the max settings with 125FPS and with the 9800gx2 you will get the same results

if you ask me currently the 3870 X2 is a brilliant card for the price,

Do not buy a multi-GPU card, support is simply not good enough for them and the 8800GTS is more than enough for everything out there. You're better off saving your money. More and more developers are optimizing their game engines for consoles which only have a single GPU, so if you ask me, multi-GPU support is only going to get worse.

If you need a 1gb 8800gts, you can get one I think.

Yes you can, both Gainward and Palit make a 1GB GTS so if you play at a high resolution, the 1GB of VRAM will increase your performance.

That's not bad, but it is no faster than a 8800GT 512MB card even at the higher resolutions (2560x1600, 1600x1200,etc.). The price is nice though.
