Because you can probably find a couple cheap old dual cores for like $20, instead of a $250 quad core.

Because:

1) I'm getting two dual core CPU's that consume 30 watts each under load. This also means it runs very cool even with a small aluminum heatsink.
2) The motherboard cost me $20

Each CPU was $60. They are 1.6 Ghz Xeon's with the Yonah core.

And Xeons handles server loads better than the quad cores.
